DocumentationLocal backend
Start, stop and update
Control the local backend from the popup: start, stop, logs and updates.
The local backend runs only while you need it. You control it from the popup’s Settings tab, in the Local backend card.
It starts by itself
You don’t have to start the backend before watching. With Start it when a dub is turned on switched on, turning on Dub this tab starts it. The first start takes longer while the models load; the popup shows each one as it loads.
It stops by itself
The backend stops 10 minutes after the last dub ends and frees the GPU and memory. If you open another video in a dubbed tab, the tab shows Standby: the backend stays off until a video plays.
Start and stop by hand
The card shows the backend’s state:
- Not installed
- Meaning
- Install it first
- Starting…
- Meaning
- Loading
- Running
- Meaning
- Ready to dub
- Running, not answering yet
- Meaning
- Started, still loading
- Stopped
- Meaning
- Off
- Did not start
- Meaning
- Something went wrong
Click Stop to free the GPU and memory right away, for example before a game. Click Start to start it without a dub.
While the backend runs, its icon also sits in the Windows system tray. You can open the logs or stop it from there.
Logs
Click Log to see what the backend has written recently. If something goes wrong, send us the log with the video link and the time it happened.
The full log files are in the logs folder inside %LOCALAPPDATA%\myDubber.
Updates
The backend checks for a new version once a day. When one is out, the card shows Update to with the version number. Click it: the backend stops, the installer runs, and the next dub starts it again. Your models are kept, so an update doesn’t download them again.
Reinstall or uninstall
- To repair the install, run the installer again.
- To uninstall, open Windows Apps settings and remove the myDubber backend. This deletes the whole folder, models included.
