DocumentationUsing the dub
Subtitles
Show the translation as subtitles while you listen to the dub.
myDubber can show the translation as text on the video, in the language you dub into. You hear the dub and read the same words at the same time.
Turn subtitles on
- Click the myDubber icon.
- Under Languages, switch on Subtitles.
The setting applies right away, also while a dub is playing. Switch it off to hide the subtitles; the dub keeps playing.
Where they come from
myDubber picks the source of the subtitles for you:
- When YouTube’s player already has captions in the language you dub into, myDubber shows those, through YouTube’s own captions.
- When it doesn’t, myDubber draws its own subtitles over the video, from the translation it is voicing.
In both cases the text is in the language set in To.
How they look
myDubber’s own subtitles are the size of YouTube’s captions. They grow with the player: when the player gets bigger, so do they, the way YouTube’s captions do.
Subtitles and the dub
myDubber’s own subtitles show the same translation you hear, line by line. Turning them on or off doesn’t change the dub.
If you would rather read than listen, you can turn the dub on and keep the subtitles on as well. To go back to the original video with no dub and no subtitles, turn off Dub this tab.
